Imagine an island community so magnificent in size and grand in scope, its skyline transforms the tropical horizon.
Envision a level of service so customized, so catered to guests, that it is capable of changing a business culture. Then picture a residential resort so impressively designed that its composition is rivaled only by the opulence of historic palaces.
This architectural objet d'art is the latest from the Ginn Resorts family, Ginn sur Mer, and it is soon to emerge on Grand Bahama Island. Upon its completion, the resort is likely to be seen as the creative magnum opus of Ginn Resorts Founder Bobby Ginn. From the water, Ginn sur Mer will be the most impressive structure in sight for miles and miles. From its single-family residences and condominium homes, it will offer incredible ocean views in nearly every direction. And club offerings will provide a leisurely indoor-outdoor island lifestyle alongside all the elegance and sophistication one has come to expect from the Ginn Resorts brand of communities.
The West End's proximity to the Americas - less than 60 nautical miles from West Palm Beach - has long given this part of Grand Bahama Island the distinction of being called, "the gateway to the islands."
Ginn sur Mer will be a mere three-hour boat ride from the Florida coast. The community's signature structure will be so impressive in scale, its outline - visible from miles away - will become a beacon in the distance for boaters from every direction. The resort's facilities, along with hundreds of single-family homes and several thousand condominium-hotel units will be interwoven throughout the property and will be marked by a distinguished baroque style of architecture.
The community is to become a destination unto itself, the largest resort building project ever undertaken in the Bahamas and unlike anything else offered in the Caribbean. At a landmark press conference earlier this year, the Rt. Hon. Perry G. Christie, prime minister of the Bahamas, praised the project as a "remarkable partnership" between the government and private business, one that is expected not only to revive the island's economy but also to empower the people who live there.
